Roger Harvey 01

Roger Harvey

From bold primaries to soft, ephemeral pastels, Harvey infuses his canvases with a bold color palette meant to evoke an emotional response in the viewer.  With that approach, his paintings focus on the changing seasonal landscapes of Harbor Country from the shores of Lake Michigan to local farmland to the banks of the St. Joseph and Galien Rivers.

Born in England, Harvey immigrated to the United States, attending Chicago’s American Academy of Art and the School of the Art Institute. The owner of his own graphic arts firm, Harvey has been awarded many prestigious national awards in his field. He has designed an eclectic array of graphic work, including more than 50 album covers as well as many corporate logos. Roger has won numerous graphics awards, been widely published, given workshops, lectured and shown his graphics work extensively. Roger is also an accomplished mural artist, having completed dozens of murals including two murals for the late actor Dennis Farina. He shows his works of large acrylic landscapes on canvas which are represented in many corporate and private collections nationwide.

Harvey’s graphic arts background is apparent in the composition of many of his landscapes which have been described as “...vibrant, elegant portrayals of nature, certain to stir even the most urban soul”.  Realistic or abstract, Roger’s paintings capture the nostalgic quality and timeless aspects of his subject matter while remaining very contemporary.

He has given workshops, lectured and is also an accomplished mural artist. His work is represented in many private and corporate art collections. Roger and his wife Beverly reside in Sawyer, Michigan.
